Harmony™ HiRes 90K® Implant
The Harmony HiRes 90K Implant is capable of being upgraded without surgery to meet your growing hearing needs.
You have the peace of mind that you won’t have to go back for further surgery: new software and external processors will keep improving your hearing over time. This is a system that can truly grow with you or your child for many years to come.
- With powerful state-of-the-art technology, thousands of Advanced Bionics cochlear implant recipients have upgraded from conventional sound processing to HiResolution Sound without a new implant.
- This upgrade not only provided high resolution performance with the external sound processor, but it increased the implant’s capability with more spectral bands and higher stimulation rates.
- Over 10,000 recipients can now be upgraded with the new HiRes Fidelity 120™ sound processing option,* once again expanding the performance envelope of the HiRes 90K implant.
The Harmony System itself is just the latest of these upgrades.
Since 2003 thousands of people have upgraded to HiResolution sound, and now those same individuals and thousands more can upgrade to HiRes Fidelity 120 for more precise hearing.
Even beyond Fidelity 120, there will still be room in the HiRes 90K Implant for further upgrades without surgery! The internal computer has even more capability, more room for software improvements, more ability to support new ideas when they are developed... so you may be able to hear better and better, years after your surgery!
*Within the United States of America only, the HiRes Fidelity 120 is an optional feature for adults only. See package insert for details.
We know how important it is to have peace of mind about your implant and the company that manufactured it. That’s why reliability is our top priority. The HiRes 90K internal device has exceptional reliability, among the best in the industry and it comes with a 10-year warranty.
The elastic silicon upper housing is soft, flexible, and conforms well to the shape of the head.
Under the elastic silicon top rests a titanium electronics housing designed to protect the internal electronics from impact and trauma.
The HiRes 90K high precision receiver and transmitter coil is made of 3-turn, gold wiring with platinum helix shielding. This innovative coil design enables the implant to receive data at 90,000 (90K) updates per second.
The magnet used to attract the implant to the external headpiece can be surgically removed and later replaced to allow for MRI examination at up to 0.3 and 1.5 Tesla.
The patented HiFocus Electrode features 16 platinum-iridium contacts that focus stimulation on the hearing nerve fibers. The precision contacts are designed for consistent signal generation and precise information delivery.
Neural Response Imaging (NRI) is a feature enabled through the HiRes 90K electronics platform that measures the electrically evoked compound action potential (ECAP) of the hearing nerves. NRI is designed to optimize the implant fitting process and assist in programming young children.
An unprecedented safety feature, Intellilink is especially important for young children and bilateral recipients. The Intellilink feature locks customized programs to the recipient’s specific implant so that the implant cannot be activated with a different processor. Each implant has a unique identity that when linked and associated with the sound processor programmed for that ear, Intellilink protects against stimulation if processors are accidentally swapped between ears or recipients.
The HiRes 90K features the most advanced sound processing electronics available. Its electronic platform provides patients with access to simultaneous, partially simultaneous and non-simultaneous stimulation. HiRes 90K is the only implant capable of programming HiResolution Sound—featuring HiRes Fidelity 120™, the latest innovation in cochlear implant technology.
The HiRes 90K offers the ability to select from multiple strategies, including HiResolution strategies for programming the Harmony HiResolution Bionic Ear System. Within a selected strategy, automated parameter management of pulse width, rate, and compliance optimizes and standardizes programs. Other programmable features such as IDR, volume range, sensitivity, and gain provide further recipient satisfaction and performance, such as to listening to music or hearing in noisy environments.
